    Paste Linked Picture slowwwwwwww

    Hello!

I have a workbook with a large number of 'Paste Linked Pictures' in it. The workbook has slowed to a crawl, as it seems that the links to the pictures remain live and are continually updating themselves.

Is there a way to suspend the updating of the linked pictures until it is needed? I'm thinking of something like the way Automatic Workbook Calculation can be turned off in Excel's Formula Options, and calculation manually commanded with F9 when needed.

    Thanks in advance!

Excel really isn't very good at dealing with pictures and the like. If you insert a picture using link to file, you are saving file size but the picture has to be "loaded" when you have the location of the picture visible. I haven't found anything that will turn off the picture loading until needed.

I am also having issues with this, all of my picture links are on one or two worksheets so i just move those sheets to a new workbook and save it. Close that workbook and the picture links will no longer update, which is what is slowing down any the program. Once you are finished any data entry and need the picture links back in you just move them back and let excel update again. This is only a temporary fix and I will update if i find anything better.
