Creating unique ID based on the number of entries

Hey all,

I am looking for a formula that will select a unique ID from a table of possible IDs based on the number of entries in multiple pages. In the attached document, the formula would go in the green highlighted cells on sheet 1, 2, and 3 (B4:B15). The formula would assign one of the IDs from the table on the worksheet ID_Database to the cells that have a value in them.

For example, on sheet 1 cells B4:B7 would be 1,2,3,4 then on sheet 2 cells B4:B7 would be 5,6,7,8,9. Wherever the next name is added (sheet 1,2, or 3 would get the value 13 given there are already 12 names)

I'm not sure if I need a macro for this, but I would like to solve it with a formula if at all possible.

I would create a list of names, segment, and ID number and then use a matching formula to show the ID numbers on the different segment worksheets.

Going further, you can put in a formula to give you the list of names in each segment.

This way, all that you have to do is add the name and segment into the database worksheet and everything will be populated automatically.

I won't be able to double enter fields in the master file I'm working on, there are a ton of segments, and they get updated pretty frequently.

That's a helpful starting point though, I might be able to reproduce the table with the names you made on ID_Database by returning all of the nonblank cells from the ranges on each of the earlier tabs. Now I need to figure that out when my range includes multiple worksheets :P

haha I was literally typing up your second recommendation as you posted that. I think I need to do it the other direction though because in the master document the values won't be entered all on one tab, they will be input on the different segment tabs. I think it might still work though.
