Manual value entry crashes excel but pasting values works just fine

    Hi Guys,

I was asked to look at a tool develeped long time ago by someone other than me, but I am having trouble identifying the root cause and it's kind of urgent, hense I ask for help here.
The tool works fine in excel versions <= 10.
It containts macro's en formula's. the macro's are not an issue in this case.
The problem manifests in just one sheet - when you type in a value in a cell and press enter it takes forever to calculate, but if you simple copy and paste the values in the exact same cell everything works just fine.

Excel version 2016 is what we are using now, but 2013 has the same issue.

    Any help will be appreciated.

See if there's any difference with this.

    Create a new workbook
Copy the spreadsheet on which you're entering the data into a sheet on the new workbook (you may need to copy the other sheets and macros too).

Enter the data using the new workbook.

    Is that any quicker?

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

    That helps, yes.

It is the current workaround (a workbook containing just the trouble sheet is being filled in and the info is later used to be pasted in the "main" tool). It is a nice peace of work and it contains 39 sheets.. and I was wondering if there is a way to fix it without rebuilding it.

Moving on from there cant you just delete the troubled worksheet and copy the new workbook untroubled sheet into the old workbook?

    Hi Special-K,

    Thank you for your input.
No, it doesn't work unfortunately. I saved it as xlsm and things got even worse :D
The number of tools (with and without macro's) that perform poorly with the newer Excel version grows in my organization (some I have made and work with),
so I suppose we will have to dedicate some extra time looking into it.

    regards,
    aurabel
