Unable to select entire column using keys: OS X: 15.22

    Hello excel <3-ers!

I'm using excel on OS X 10.11.4 El Capitan. Excel version: 15.22

For an unknown reason I'm unable to select column using keyboard until rows run down. I can't select rows until end on right side too.
I'm interested to select column until its end so I can apply formula.

Has anyone else faced this issue?

    Attached two screen shots:
    1) column top: I can select column to the top, but not until the bottom

    2) rows_left: I can select rows to the left, but not to the right end.

    Hi,

That extended keyboard thing has gone terribly awful. I'm not using that version of excel and that machine for excel purposes. That groups sheets, selects randomly. I tried Fn+F8, it works but when working with multiple tabs/sheets it gets mischievous and annoys again.

Also, if I use extended version I've to manually scroll down the cells to select rather excel zipping until the eternity. Weirdo.

Maybe check you keyboard and switch to non-extended

Fn+F8 should it turn off permanently (until you press F8 (or something like that on Mac) with excel )

sorry but OSX is not my favorite thing

    Translate it to Mac
select all tabs as you need
select cell then press and hold shift and hit right arrow as many as you want
    or
    if you want whole row
select cell then press and hold Shift & Control then hit right arrow

but I think all above you know

I don't know if this works in Mac or not.

Hold down Shift and hit the spacebar will select all of current row. (works in edit mode as well)
Hold down Ctrl and hit spacebar will select all of current column. (does not work in edit mode)

    Hello flame,

Thanks for your attention to my problem.
Fortunately, it works on Mac. But - it selects entire row/column. Attached two pics:
row_infinity - row selected until eternity
col_infinity - column selected until infinity

What I'd like to do is leave top cell in column and apply formula.
    Thanks again.

Insert formula into first cell of your range
select this cell and then select entire row/column or range as you want (it should stay selected)
in formula bar click on your formula
    press control then hit enter/return

is that what you want ?
