mailto: hyperlink opens Chrome web browser page instead of Gmail

Links in a workbook that worked previously have started to open a Chrome web browser page instead of a compose Gmail message.

I have tried rebooting my computer and I have opened a new workbook and inserted a mail link, but this does the same thing.

Any ideas why this is and how I can fix it?

How do you access your Gmail messages (via browser or a mailing application)?

Uninstall Chrome.

If you're using a email application, then try

Manually inserting name into formula below
=HYPERLINK("MAILTO:THE EMAIL ADDRESS",THE EMAIL ADDRESS)

Or use a cell reference
=HYPERLINK("MAILTO:"&CELL REFERENCE,CELL REFERENCE)

If you're trying to access it via the browser then
1. Open Chrome and access your Gmail account
2. Click on the icon next to the favorite button in the address bar (see image below)
