Formula to show the lowest value allowed to maintain an average

    Hi all,

I have a weather spreadsheet which tells me the average maximum, minimum and mean temperatures for the current month.

I'm working on a feature where, by inputting the maximum temperature reached on the current day, Excel will show me the impact that has on the monthly mean temperature. Then, if for example, the mean temperature will increase by 0.3 degrees, what is the lowest value the minimum temperature is allowed to be whilst still maintaining the 0.3 degree mean temperature increase.

I have attached an example with notes which will hopefully help!

    Thanks in advance,

    Luke

I think it's not that much excel as math, especially issues with rounding :-0 )
    But try in C10:

first 4 in formula comes from 1/4 of data to be collected/generated and there is of course 3/4 for the data already collected
    Best Regards,

How about using "Goal Seek" found under "Data" tab -> "What-If-Analysis". See jpegs

Thanks to both of you for your help.

Kaper, you were right, it was more a math solution I needed. After a little more thought today, I managed to come up with the solution.

Added reputation and marked as solved.
