Post HELP - simple Excel work

    Hi all,

Simple question, probably... I am looking to link some cells up, so that if I have a table of 20 coordinates, I can enter any of the 20 coordinates (numbered 1 through 20) and their x/y (Easting/Northing) values automatically transfer over to the adjacent cells.

Attached a link to an example sheet - in cell J3 and J4 I would type 1 or 2, and in the adjacent cells I would ideally like the "x" and "y" and "a" and "b" to transfer over from the table.

    Any help or advice appreciated...

    John

In J3 and K3 you could use:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    resp.

    And copy down

Just remember that value in cells I3:Innn shall be one of these in cells B3:B22 (so not "point 1" but just "1")
    Best Regards,

    Kaper

Welcome to the forum! Please take a moment to re-read forum rule #1 and then amend your thread title to something that better explains your problem. Changing your thread title is not optional, which means you must change it. Thanks!

    • Use concise, accurate thread titles.
    • Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.
    • Use terms appropriate to a Google search - poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice tell us nothing.
    • Responding to a request to change your thread title by doing so is mandatory.

To change a title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title.

No help to be offered, please, until the OP complies with this request.

    Thank you Kaper!

With your guidance and some research I think I've nailed it!

The "Point 1" box wasn't to be used in the equation, the box next to it was to insert the number, so no issues there.

John, my kind request is - even if you used solution from post #2, please follow moderator's request

Just to explain: I'm not helping here - just focusing John on content of post #3.
