    Auto sorting after input?

    Hello

So, I am looking for some help with a thing I'm doing for work, and its been a long time since I did anything with excel.

Basically I am making lists where we can input details on lorries with the following info: Day, Time, Trailer, Company and Destination.
It also consists of 4 parts Export this week, export next week, import this week and import next week.

The sheet is in Danish, but I've listed the days from Monday to Sunday in Danish in the first column.

We will continously be adding and removing lorries from the list, so what I am looking for is a simple way of sorting the list, based on Day everytime we update it. And I am hoping its possible to somehow make it sort the 4 different parts seperately, so all 4 are sorted based on Day for each specific part.

I hope this explanation makes sense, and that someone can help me.

    Thanks in advance!

YOu have not given enough information - you need to add some dummy data so that we can see how you expect your data to be sorted.

Added some dummy details to all 4 parts.

Basically the info you have in each column is:
    Day Time Trailer Company Destination

And you have 4 of those.

I want it to somehow sort all 4 individually, just based on the Day column.

    Re: Auto sorting after input?

    Hello Mazie,

When sorting by days, the resultant sort is usually alphabetic and not in day order (Monday, Tuesday etc....). When using the inbuilt sort function, you can create a custom sort which will do the sort for you in day order. However, if you wish to use a macro, there are a few work-arounds which should work. Following is one method which will sort each section separately for you. I've used Columns A, L and W as temporary helper columns to sort the separate sections in day order starting from Monday. The helper columns are used to number the days 1 - 7 starting with Monday as day 1. The sort is then done on these numbers.

Please Login or Register to view this content.
As you can see, there are four codes which are basically the same except for their names and their reference to the helper columns. Each separate code is then assigned to a button at the top of each section so, after you have entered/updated data and a button is clicked on, the section below that button will be sorted in day order starting from Monday.

I have attached your sample workbook with the codes implemented. Click on a "RUN" button to see the sort happen.

You may also notice that I have changed the special character "Ø" with an "O". I'm sure that you can work this out to suit.

    I hope that this helps.

    Cheerio,
    vcoolio.
