Missing column text

    Question Missing column text

    I had a spreadsheet presented to me in which some the text in the columns wasn't showing when printed. So far I have:
    1) Set all cells to wrap text
    2) Cleared and set print area to include all the columns/rows that I want to show
    3) Selected "Fit All Columns to One Page"
    4) Set the paper size to Letter (8.5x11)
    5) Landscape
    6) Made margins .25" on all sides

    It still isn't working. What am I missing?

    PS: It should be noted that even setting the paper size to "legal (8.5x14)" does not resolve the issue.

    A sample would be helpful, a screenshot of the issue as you see it may help too. Can you see the cells that do not print when looking at print preview?

    Have you:
    • Tried another printer
    • Tried another computer

    Does this happen to a single file or many? Are there any other issues with the file (errors when opening, strange behavior, graphics issues, etc)?
    Ways to get help: Post clear questions, explain your overall goal, supply as much background as possible, respond to questions asked of you by those trying to help and post sample(s) files.

    I've only experienced it with this one file in the last 5 years that I have been working with excel professionally. The issue has occurred on more than 1 computer. I can't show the whole sheet due to it being sensitive information. Here is the spreadsheet in "page break preview" and then in "print preview" which is also how it looks when printed.

    Very likely a printer/driver issue. You can see the text and it is printed, just cut off. Do you have scaling set for the page setup? Could be a scaling issue.

    I would switch your default printer to something like the XPS printer (a software "printer") and see if the issue manifests with it as the printer. If not its almost 100% the printer/driver you are trying to use not being able to handle some settings like scale, margins, wrapping, page size, etc.

    If you have the same issue using a generic printer like XPS, its unlikely to be a printer related issue. Let us know the outcome of changing the default printer (close/save the file, change default printer, open file/excel, check it out).

    It occurs in Print Preview, in physical print, and in PDF.

    Scale it set to fit to one page wide.
