    simple (hopefully) date/text format issue

Hopefully this is a quick one, basically I have a column of data that has been automatically picked up by excel as a date when its not. The text should look like 1/3, 1/6, etc but shows in excel as 01-Mar, 01-Jun, etc. I've used a custom date format to change it to what it should look like (1/3,1/6), but it still has underlying date data behind it. Is there a way to strip the date formatting but leave it visually the same (1/3,1/6).

Basically it looks right, but I'm still not happy as the formatting is essentially wrong as they're not dates. Not a major issue and I've half fixed it, but just letting it annoy me! I''ve attached a selection of examples, many thanks in advance.
