need to find out how to insert a drop down field to select data

Hello all...I am using Excel 2016. I don't usually design in Excel but I need to create a Tracker to track IT request. I need a dropdown field to have the requester select their name and request need when filling out the request form... I usually do this in Access but the uses don't want a database...They want the Excel Form on a shared drive. Can this be done in excel? Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Drop-downs can be created in Excel via Data Validation (in the Data tab).

Data > Data Validation > Allow: List > Source: the range of cells that your names are in

You can also manually enter the names in the source section like this:
    Matthew,Mike,Luke,John

Thanks replying...I found this option..How do I apply the list? If I have a column I want to use with the list, what steps would I apply to make the column a dropdown with the list created. Thanks

That is a bit of a vague question.

If you are expecting to be adding and removing names, I would create a table with the names and reference to the table in the Data Validation source.
That way, when the table grows (i.e. you add more names), the DV source grows as well.
