Excel take too much time to open.

    Hi to all.

I'm facing a very strange issue.
1 computer (Windows 7 Pro 64Bit) in my domain I'm facing issues with all the Office files (Office 2003 pro)
It takes about 35 to 50 sec to open 150k excel files. The same files open i 2 or 3 sec from all the other computers.

    What i have try
    1)Repair Office 2003 - nothing change
2)Remove Office 2003 make restart and then install it again - nothing change
3)I create a local user with admin rights - nothing change
4)I create another domain user with admin rights - nothing change

Excluding the problem with office files the user dont face any other problem at all.

    Thanks for your help

PS:Do not hesitate to ask me anything you want

I would start by changing the default printer on that computer to something else. Also, disable all add-ins and see if that improves it.

OK, so what's your favourite colour?

    Sorry - couldn't resist.

Are you able to attach a sample file showing the problem?

Maybe clean your temporary folders (both), defrag C Drive and try again

OK, then you need to look at repairing your Office installation, etc. as already suggested by others. Not a lot else we can do until you have done these things.

    Sorry for the delay.

I try all suggestion without success again.
    Clear temp files
    Change default printers.
    Delete printers with drivers.
Remove add-ins (also check in the registry to be absolutely sure)

1 strange think is this: If i open excel.exe open immediately. After this i open 1 excel file and open immediately also.
So the problem in only when i double click a excel or word file.

    Thanks again for your help

Re: Excel take too much time to open.

you can try "by force" - right click on excel file - open with - choose default program (bottom) (it will be excel of course but don't choose excel from the top of list.) uncheck checkbox - more options - scroll down - look for another app on this PC - find excel.exe.
or use any repair tool for registry, eg. RegOrganizer (not free) or similar

these are only supposed solutions - I prefer computer in my hands

one more thing: if you have many many files on desktop try to move them to the folder/folders
