SAP Dowload ---> Excel - Data being displayed with decimal points vs. commas

I'm doing a relatively simple export from SAP to Excel. The data displays correctly in SAP when I look at it on the screen. Numbers would have the expected format as I've set in my user preferences in SAP (1,000.00 as an example). When I export the data and open in Excel, the number are displayed with a decimal point in place of the comma (1.000.00 as an example). In Excel I've looked at my preference and tried find and replace but neither solution has worked for me.

Thanks for the quick response. I gave it a try, but the decimals still remain in place

I've tried that too. It's almost as if the cell is locked, at is won't let me reformat or remove the decimal places in all of the standard ways.
