Need help with a chart , new but learning

Thank you everyone in advance I hope to learn enough here to give back here someday

Ok so this is what I want to make
    image.jpg
    Attachment 586715

Using total flux as my y axis , in mine it will be total flux in photons per second

I have a set of data of three groups a DNA and plasmid group a DNA only group and a negative control group , so the chart will have three lines instead of the two shown on the example .

Where should I begin , I know this is a tall order but I'm trying to learn and a lot of excel examples are not going over what I'm looking to create

It looks like a basic scatter chart It sounds like you will have three data series.

Where to begin? This tutorial shows how to create a scatter chart with three data series, all plotted against the same X values: https://www.excel-easy.com/examples/scatter-chart.html The page following this one shows how to access the "select data" dialog where you can add/edit/remove data series. This may be important for you, because you may need this dialog if your three data series will have different X values for each series. I find that a lot of initially creating a scatter chart is in those two steps.

From there, it should be a simple matter of becoming familiar with the different formatting options (colors, symbols, with or without lines connecting the markers, adding error bars, etc.). Learning how to query the help can be a useful skill, as all of these are described somewhere in the help files, if you can only figure out how to find the correct help file.

I just think I figured out that it is called a connected scatter plot....I think....so what I will try to do is add SEM (if that is right) or whatever error or standard of error values to each point and then make the chart fit with three groups instead of the two from the picture, let me know if anyone thinks Im missing something please . and thanks again for any help

I have not seen "connected scatter plot" used in Excel communities. Excel communities will use something like "scatter plot with lines and markers". Just semantics, but if you go searching google for stuff, I don't think you will find as much searching for "connected scatter plot".

Adding error bars is usually easy. I have never used the built in "standard error" options, preferring to calculate or estimate my errors in the spreadsheet, and then use those in the chart. Help file for adding error bars: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...5-864049a145f0
