    Data Validation with IF condition.

I was looking to create a process flow where each of the steps in the process can have 3 options as
    1. Yet to Start
    2. In Pogress
    3. Completed.

Getting this 3 options as dropdown can be easily done through data validation. The concern I am having that, the steps of the process are dependend on the previous one.

Hence I want, if only the previous cell have an entry as Completed from the dropdown, then only the dropdown for the next cell becomes available.

Actually I am coming from the problem where this sheet is handled by many people, and I end up seeing many steps as " In progress" which is practically not possible. There are total 14 steps for the entire process and each of them should go through the 3 stages as mentioned above.

I tried to do that through IF condition, by slected Custom option in the Data Validation process, but doesnt seem to be working. Any help on this will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Best thing is to attach your sample workbook showing what you would like to achieve mocked-up.

Go Advanced -> manage Attachments -> Upload

Re: Data Validation with IF condition.

To put things in a simpler way, any step can have 3 solution- Not Started, In Pogress & Completed

To finish the entire process there are such suppose 10 steps. Now it's like you cannot start the 2nd step if the the 1st step is not Completed. So in the excel, if only under the 1st step, its selected as Completed, then only the dropdown with the 3 options should show up for the 2nd step. This is someting to be continued for the rest of steps. Hope this clarfies things.
