    Macro or Formula New Date?

    Hi,

In the attached I have a before and after scenario to put the new date and status in columns B and C. Can these results be done with a formula or does in need to be with code?

    Thank you

Nothing is going to move values from one place to another other than maual intervention or a VBA macro.

Assuming that you don't want to do it manually, you would then have to indicate if you want to execute a macro manually or if some event should trigger it.

What happens to the data that is overwritten? Do you have any sort of audit trail that you could look at to determine the sequence of events?

Personally, I'd recommend that you have a record for each Item/Date/Status. If you store your data in a Structured Table, you can sort it and filter it and you will have a full record of the service history of the item. You could also include more detail, like what was broken and what was fixed/replaced.

    Thank you for the reply.

I currently have code that will keep track of the records on another sheet. I just need to figure out how to get these results. That being like in the 'After' scenario.

    Can this be done ?

Columns D & E are cleared by the code so I need B & C updated when the code runs please.

Might be an idea to share the code you already have ... then we don't have to start from scratch.

A sample workbook that accurately reflects the live environment would be helpful too.

Re: Macro or Formula New Date?

I figured it out. I have an entries sheet that is my source. I used max formulas to get the latest dates from the source.

I appreciate the help you set me on the right track.
