i'm not sure where to post this..
However, we recently migrated to excel 2016 from excel 2010
and i'm a bit confused.. Every time I input a date format to (Excel 2016) January 1, 2018 it doesnt auto convert to date format it always returning as a text format.
In 2010, typing a January 1, 2018 date format will return as a date format
Any thoughts?

It works for me.... You may have migrated, but have you all the updates? I recall that someone else had the same problem and it went away after updates were fully installed.
Also what date system have you set in regional settings. We use dd/mm/yy here and when I type January 1 2018 nothing happens, but if I type 1 January 2018 it converts to a date.

It doesn't work here on Office 365, Glenn - it remains formatted as general, not a date. The OP specifically stated that they are entering the date as January 1, 2018.
The point I was making is that if you type in a date that is consistent with your regional settings, Excel converts it. If he has just upgraded to 2016, his regional settings may be incorrect.
