    Function of buttons unknown

Hello. Does anyone know what is the function of the 1-2 buttons at the top left corner of sheet in attached file? I click them but nothing happens. Is it tabs? How can I use them?

Some of the rows have been grouped (eg rows 505-509) so clicking the 1 button will collapse those groups, and clicking the 2 button will expand them.

This is brilliant! But when I save as this 97-2003 Workbook as normal Workbook, this disappears. Is it possible to use this on normal workbook as well, with adding more buttons and hiding more rows per button? It would save me from having to work on multiple worksheets/books at once.

Yes, you can group rows/columns in earlier versions of Excel too. The grouping options are on the Data tab.

I seem to be able to create 1 group per sheet. Can I create more groups? For example rows 1-30 to be one group, 31-60 another group, 61-90 another group.. It would do me wonders!

You can create multiple groups but you need rows in between that are not part of the grouping.

This works! I would ask for a way to name the groups, but I suppose I can use those empty rows/columns for that. Thanks for all the help
