Save, Plot, and Build on randomly generated number

I want to thank the members of the group for the kind and helpful replies they have given me in the recent as a new poster here.

For studying the game of 6 deck blackjack I have created a spreadsheet which makes a list of values associated with cards in a shoe game. If this turns out that I need a macro I will post question in the macro subform perhaps but I would like to get the basics down first. I hope that is acceptable.

I will outline its framework herein for those with patience. A row of random numbers is next to the values that make up a scrambled or pseudo "shuffled" shoe of cards. The values are not card values but simply the count number associated with the card. A multiplier based on risk which does not change but can be changed acts upon the bankroll and accumulated numbers to size the proper bet. If the expectation of outcome is negative a number is subtracted from 20000 or added if positive and a rand between function acts upon both the top and bottom of that range. In the long run if I have a 1 percent advantage in certain circumstances I should produce a positive result an extra 1 in 100 times. One player playing the dealer will use about 12 cards on average every round of hands so I pull over into another column that result every 12 rows. At the bottom of the sheet positive results and negative results are produced and a result is obtained. That changes every time I get it to make a new random number set by pressing a key in my primitive infantile learning times.

I would like to make that new random number that is produced find itself as a plot on a graph that I can take out 10s of 1,000s of repetitions summing itself along the way. The result should give me a crude representation of what we call in blackjack my expected value and I could determine when I have overcome my standard deviation at the current and various bet levels and also change the bankroll as needed. I should work on a way to award myself the extra 150% payout given on blackjacks but that can come later.

I suppose it sounds like I want the world delivered to me on a silver platter but I have a feeling this group enjoys this sort of battle. If so please comment and thanks for reading my post.

Re: Save, Plot, and Build on randomly generated number

If this requires a macro, we can move the thread for you - please don't open a duplicate.

We love helping, but no, we don't provide solutions on a silver platter - we help you to provide them yourself. With this in mind, please show us what you have managed to achieve so far.

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Another option of course is to use google. I've seen all sorts of workbooks that deal with various aspects of betting and randomisation. Not sayiing that one will do exctly what you want but often they offer a good starting point.
