I would like to how to do a partial match with advanced filter

Should I enter in the requested cell *brome or ~ brome*or*brome~or bro~me in order to get the results.

To search for anything containing 'brome' you would put '*brome' as a criterion.
A tilde '~' placed immediately before '*' means that the '*' is treated as an ordinary character rather than a wildcard, so a criterion of '~*brome' would match '*brome'

To simplify, unless the data you are filtering contains '*' characters you probably don't need to get involved with '~'.
