Value to average in Excel pivot

    Hi

I'm trying to get an average value of a pivot table and getting nowhere, the data is for a years value split up by dept. and for each day of the week. The pivot is like this:

I am trying to get an average value per day, so setting the value to average in Excel pivot gives me a value of 1, so I think it is that I need to divide the day value by the amount of Mon/Tue etc. days in the year if that sounds right. I have no idea how to go about this in a pivot, can anyone enlighten me how to set the values within the pivot so they are averages per day, and also by dept if possible, what do I need to do to the data set, what column of values do I need to calculated and do I need to use a calculated field/item?

    Thanks

    Lee!

Re: Value to average in Excel pivot

    Try with =average(range)
    with one criteria use =averageif(range,criteria,average_range)
    more than one criteria =averageifs(average_range,criteria_range1,criteria1,criteria_range2,criteria2)

    Administrative Note:

You need to include code tags around your code.

Please take a moment to add the tags. Posting code between
Please Login or Register to view this content.
tags makes your code much easier to read and copy for testing, and it also maintains VBA formatting.

Click on Edit to open your thread, then highlight your code and click the # icon at the top of your post window. More information about these and other tags can be found here
