Excel dashboard with powerquery on a shared drive folder?

I created a dashboard on an excel file using power query. It can read parameters based off certain cell values and then refresh data to be up to date via the "refresh all" button.

I keep it on my office's shared drive so that other team members can use it. That said, in order to refresh the data, Excel prompts them for the password to connect to the database and asks if it's okay to run SQL etc. A bunch of stuff that scares non computer people....How can I make it so that my coworkers can simply open the Excel book and use it the way an end user would use a dashboard?

(I know PowerBI and Tableau are "meant" for what I'm trying to do but sadly the office I work for is a nonprofit that can't afford that at the moment.)

The short answer is no. There's no way to get around it, each user will need to at least set credential and Native Query permission once on their machine.

Check your Data source settings in PQ Editor. You should have "Native Database Queries" approval set (on your local instance).

However, this file is local to each user' and is encrypted by key that's specific to user (stored in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\1x.0\PowerQuery\User.zip)

As far as I'm aware, it's not possible to share this file among users.
