YTD Sales Comparison vs Last Year and vs Target Error

    Dear All,

I would like to seek your assistance please on how to correct a formula I previously made in computing YTD Sales and comparing it with Previous Year and Target.

The idea is for the sheet to automatically compute or update once actual 2019 Sales is inputed, but I am getting an error whenever the sales is negative or reflects a zero number.

Please see attached excel sheet for reference.

I have already tried several options but I cant seem to figure our, realistically we get negative or zero sales due to client returns, which is why it is important for us to capture this as well.

    Hoping for your kind assistance.

    Sincerely,

    Francis

An image is of no use - please attach the workbook

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

    Hi AliG

Thank you for your guidance, following your instructions I was able to attach the excel.

The desired outcome is hard coded so it was able to compute for negative values, if you will compare with the previous (above) examples wherein the formula only computes for positive values.

    Much gratitude, francis.

Re: YTD Sales Comparison vs Last Year and vs Target Error

I am confused as to how a forecast deficit of 9 and an actual deficit of 38,999 yields a PERF that is positive.
My feeling is that cell I29 could be populated using: =IF(ISERROR((F29-G29)/ABS(G29)),"",(F29-G29)/ABS(G29))
If that doesn't yield the correct result please explain in words what the PERF measures. It would also be helpful to get expected percentages of positive forecasts and positive actuals, positive forecasts and negative actuals.
