    Opening Linked workbooks

    I have linked 2 workbooks......

Obviously 1st one has to be opened before the 2nd one to allow for updating......

If a user attempts to open the 2nd one first is it possible to prevent it or open the 1st one automatically?

I get complaints that the linking doesn't work........ but its because others don't know how to use excel!!

In what way have you linked them? Via formulae?

What you are describing will probably require VBA coding - are you able to run macro-enabled workbooks on your work network?

Without seeing the workbook and code, I don't think we are going to get very far.

    Re: Opening Linked workbooks

You do not need to share sensitive information, and that's not what we are asking. You can share a dummy workbook and the VBA code. There are so many different approaches - we would need to understand your set-up, so no, it's not really a general question because there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer.
