    Distribute Excel workbook

    Hi
I am about to produce an Excel workbook that will be used by users at different locations. The users are not employees within the same company. The workbook will be subject to revisions and therefore users will be required to check for updates. Before I proceed I would be grateful for advice as to how best facilitate the publishing of new updates.
    Many thanks
    Barney

    Re: Distribute Excel workbook

    Hi
Will the updates be made by users or centrally managed?
Are all users on the same network?

The more complete information provided will make a solution easier to supply?

    Cheers

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The updates will be centrally managed and users will not be on the same network.

    Many thanks

    Re: Distribute Excel workbook

    Hi

The simple solution will be to:-
    1. Set up a separate page for each company (This will hide confidential information between users.
    2. Be sure not to link data between sheets that are being distributed.
    3. Email each page to users when updated.

This is probably the simplest way to maintain confidentiality and ensure users are updated when necessary.
There are other more complex approaches such as a web based contolled access but that is probably beyond the expectations here.

I have in the past developed a macro distribution approach but that needs a lot more information ie users with email addresses, the complete document and an understanding of the data collection methods and updating procedures.

    Cheers
