How do you distribute your excel reports?

    Hello,

I'm curious as to how those of us who have to use excel for reporting issue out reports?

I do a lot of daily reports which I have templates set up for where I just link the current file but my Manager has come back to me and said he wants to be able to access my reports outside of the work network. I'm now looking at having to attach the file for my reports individually each day which seems like a bit of a waste of time. I know there are better solutions for this (what about reports that are bigger than 20mb etc) but I'm not sure what the go is.

    Thanks,

    the question is
does your manager actually need all the raw data...im guessing not

generally manager only needs and overview with graphs/easy to read things
in which case, either just export a graph or send PDF file

creating a simple pdf macro isnt too hard and it wouldnt be a stretch from there to set up automatic email attachment as well

Can't you use Dropbox, Google Drive, Sky Drive or similar?

I'm with humdingaling on the approach. If the reports are for, well, moment in time reporting, they should be static. You're using Excel 2010 so you can publish to a .pdf file. And there's lots of examples, information and advice about emailing in VBA.

And, of course, you don't have to worry about file size or anyone screwing about with your workbooks or data.
