Add in Suites - Are they worth having?

    Hi All

I have been using excel a while and keep seeing add in suites showing custom toolbars with wonderful time saving features.

for example Ablebits, Add-ins.com, Thexceladdict, ASAP.net etc.

Are these worth having (perhaps a subjective question) and if so any recommendations of which are worth looking at.

    Thank you

It is most certainly a subjective question.

    They are worth having if:
    - they have enough functionality that you will make use of
    - the cost of them gives you sufficient RoI
and only you can answer that.

Personally, I have written lost for myself, use 1 or 2 occasionally, but tend to avoid other people's addins (they usually have a million functions of which I only want one). I do have two VBA addins, RubberDuck and MZ-Tools, but the only thing I use extensively is the code library inMZ-Tools.

    Hi Bob

Thanks for your input, all of which made perfect sense.

I was wondering, if there were sufficient features for met, if any particular provider came out on top.

Will look into the other resources you mentioned.

    Thanks

I used (and liked) Morefunc. It's free and allowed INDIRECT on closed sheets. But.... all machines accessing the file had to have the same software loaded, otherwise they got an error message. That was a major minus. No idea if Kutools, etc, are the same... If so... let the buyer beware.

Exactly the problem that I find with most 3rd part addins.

I have used ASAP for years mostly the Formula change reference $'s and maybe 2 Format ones Undo Text Wrap and undo Merged cells which are helpful when pulling in Web Data.
