How to group large duplicate values from pivot table

Hi all. I have an excel pivot table but it has records over 1036 records. I tried to use the method like other tutorials such as distinct count but it does not seem to work. How would I be able to group those many duplicate records into just 6 records such as just akamai, malware infection, suspicious activity, poor security, tripwire, recon. From the excel, it is displaying all the elements regardless of the duplicates. I would want to total the value alongside its count so that all suspicious activity will be under one with its total value instead of having multiple suspicious activity. How should I approach this problems?

Based on the image that you show, the issue you have is a data consistency issue on the original data source. Your best bet and a relatively quick fix would be to clean and standardise the data.

You could try using find an replace, but that is prone to errors. I would suggest that the field you are summarising, you sort by and then filter and standardise the entry. Highlight the area you want to standardise, make the change you want to report and then press CTRL+Enter together. This will enter the information in all the highlighted fields.

If this dataset is going to be added to, you may want to make a drop down list and so ensure data consistency.
