Pivot table report filer - dates & grouping

I have a lot of data with date times of jobs done (DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM) and i need to filter the resulting pivot table by date. The issue is when i create an extra column in my data to show a date time cell as just a date (DD/MM) and add it as a report filter, i get a list with multiple same dates on it. How do i group or consolidate that information to a single list of dates for each month?

I'm guessing I need to change the way the added column in the data works but i cant seem to find anything with normal searches online.
