Formula for showing most recent data entry within cell

I am creating a file that will have a whole string of data appearing in a column (possibly hundreds). I'd like to have an adjacent cell possibly on a separate tab or even a separate file showing the most recent entry. eg as I add a further figure to a column, the 'formulated cell changes to show this most recent addition. I thought it was something I could do using the offset function but I can't seem to make it work. I've attached a small example and any help would be greatly appreciated.
