Opening an excel 2007 file in excel 2013

I have an excel 2007 work book, and can't open it in excel 2013 which I have installed recently.
Any help will be much appreciated.

There should be no problem. Is it just the one file? Have you tried opening it on another PC (i.e is the file corrupted)?

The file is not corrupted, and I am trying to open it in excel 2013 which I have just installed in a new computer.

Thank you Glen. I appreciate your trying to help.
Here is a better clarification of the problem :
"On trying to open the file, I get this error message :
We found a problem with some content in ' the file name .xlsm' . Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of the workbook click yes. "
If I click "yes" the file opens distorted without its original formatting .
