    Adding >= constraint to Solver for multiple variable cells

    I am using a Solver function in Excel which works well, but I want to add a new constraint.

    The solver tool currently manipulates the values of 100 variable cells in integers between 1 and 4 which correspond to size of product line to optimize sales within constrained space.

    The constraint I want to add is: the value of these 100 cells cannot be any number between 1 and 4, but must be >= the original size value (defined by me as constant).

    I.E. Product A Original Value = 2. Solver cannot assign any value to this product except 2, 3, or 4.

    In simple terms I want to add a constraint saying:

    "A1:A10 (variable cells) >= B1:B10 (fixed constants)

    *Edit: Added workbook with example*

    However when I do this solver doesn't understand it. I could add a separate constraint for A1>=B1, A2>=B2, etc., but that would be time consuming and would probably break solver.

    Any ideas?

    Please upload a workbook or a representative cut down copy, anonymised if necessary. It is always easier to advise if we can see your request in its context.

    Show a before and after situation with manually calculated results, explaining which information is data and which is results, and if it's not blindingly obvious how you have arrived at your results some explanatory notes as well.

    To upload a file click the Go Advanced button at the foot of your post, look underneath the post area for the Manage Attachments section and take it from there.

    Re: Adding >= constraint to Solver for multiple variable cells

    Would you confirm the variable cells are J3:J12 and these 10 cells are the equivalent of the 100 cells you mention - presumably in your production workbook
    Presumably M3 is the Objectve cell.

    Would you explain a bit more what you expect in the constraint cells.

    You mention "A1:A10 (variable cells) >= B1:B10 (fixed constants)
    but that doesn't translate to this example. Would you be more specific please.
