Which Version Can I Download?

I am taling an on-line Excel tutorial and realized, after the 4th lesson, that I need to download Excel. My question is, given that I will be working in a hote,l where basic Excel should en able me to enter and retrieve the hotel's data without the latest version with all the bells and whistles I won't need(or can learn on their PC), which is the earliest version can I buy to save money?

Are you asking for the most cost effective way to get Excel on you personal computer? Earlier versions of Excel are not necessarily cheaper than the latest versions.

In the last years, Microsoft has introduced a subscription model for Office, called Office 365. For personal and home use you can get a subscription starting at USD 6.99 per month and you can cancel the subscription when you no longer need it. That's less than the price of two coffees for Excel, Word, Powerpoint and a heap of other things.

To compare: a standalone version of just Excel (no Word, Powerpoint etc) is USD 139. Even if you find an older version for less money it will still be more than the subscription for a full year or two.



It is always better to buy the most recent version, so you don't miss out on new functionality.
