Context based data validation

I have a set of 10 categories, where each has 3 or 4 child items.

I'd like to add data validation to a column that limits the selection to one of the 10 categories.

I would then like to add data validation to the next column that limits the available options to one of the 3 or 4 child items associated with the category.

The category data validation is simple, is the second data validation possible?
