Can I lock Functions such as "Hide, Sort & Filter"?

    Hello All.

I am wondering if I can lock certain functions from others editing a shared spreadsheet?

I would like them to be able to edit information, but not change any of the layout. Is this possible?

yes, you can, obviously, because every menu and every button in excel is nothing more than just a different representation of objects or indexed "stuff" inside an application that can be pointed to and manipulated by calling and using the windows OS. thing "handle", but it's not the same thing. but it would probably be overly difficult, and a waste of your time. maybe someone here has done it, although I've never heard of it. more common is hiding the bars and tabs at the top:

    Welcome to the forum

Did you consider locking the worksheet?

Ribbon > Review > Protect Sheet

You get a choice of about 15 different functions that you can allow the user to do or not. For cells where you want to allow user input you simply specify those cells as unlocked via Format Cells > Protection and uncheck "Locked"
