Filtering a multifaceted table of data through another table.

    Hi All,

Asking here as I don't know exactly what to search!

So I'm working with a "heatmap" that is taking data from the 'DATA ENTRY' function as a result of an online report with a learning management system. (Picture below + Names edited out)

So, I am trying to filter by "Org level". Each person is assigned a specific org level at ranges 2 to 5, for example:

Joe Bloggs has Org Level 2 = R&D, Org Level 3 = Manufacturing, Org Level 4 = Centrifugation.. etc..

Also, each particular curricula is assigned at specific Org levels exactly as above. (May not be required for this.)

I have pulled a report of every user and their corresponding org levels, shown below.

What is the easiest way I can filter by each users org level to only show a specific org level, and is it also feasible for filtering by each curricula assigned per org level?

    Thanks a lot.

    Welcome to the forum.

Lovely screenshots - however, they are of no use whatsoever - sorry.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

Hi! I'd love to attach a workbook but that would be breaking GDPR etc.. Is there any info I can give typed that could be of assistance?

Read the instructions at the top of the page. It does not ask you to break GDPR rules (we are all very much aware of data protection issues) - instead, it asks for a SMALL sample workbook with desensitised data.

If you want help with this project, you will need to supply this. Thanks.

By the way (sorry, I'm a linguist and a teacher by profession!) - curricula is plural (Latin), so you need to say "each curriculum" (singular).

I can't seem to get my file within the 1000kb limit even with almost no data in it!

Copy the data you want to share into a new workbook, or try saving it with an .xlsb suffix.

Is it all the conditional formatting that is bloating the workbook???

No, it's not here. Try again (instructions at the top of the page in the yellow box).

OK - so which list are you trying to filter?

Can you explain in detail what you want and the relationship between the three sample tables you've provided. When I am clear about the objective,I'll suggest something. Can you mock up the outcome of a filter to show us what you are aiming for?

My gut instinct is saying structured tables and slicers for this, but i need more explanation first.

Re: Filtering a multifaceted table of data through another table.

    Really unsure what to say.

The tab labelled "data entry" is where the data set on the "heatmap" sheet is retrieving data from.

The main data set is the top "table" within the "heatmap" sheet, displaying the curricula and all of the users completion status against the curricula.

I would like to filter by users org level, e.g. org level 4 = MEG.

The actual data set is much larger so a manual fix is impossible.

    Thanks

Is Joe Bloggs one person? Or is each row meant to be a different person?

Each column should correspond to a different individual

Re: Filtering a multifaceted table of data through another table.

OK, look, I'd love to help you, but without a sample that is representative of the real data, I can't.

Can you please provide a better sample set of data so that I can at least see what we're dealing with?
