Disable links on opening

Hi

I've inherited a spreadsheet which, on opening, attempts to contact a server that no longer exists, and run one or more external (?) links which aren't there. I get three message boxes one after the other in a loop. I can't break this loop. I can't access anything on the menu bar - I assume the attempts to link can't be interrupted from the keyboard or mouse.

If I hit ctrl+shift+esc I get a message box saying I can't delete anything from task activities because there is an open message box.

How do I permanently stop this?

I solved the problem by rewriting the spreadsheet...
