Try this:
=(10-3)*10/7+6
Hope this helps.

HI Pete,
Unfortunately I couldn't snip my excel document, basically looking at a nested parenthesis with 5 calculations into 1 answer.
I understand the order of operations but lost on the use of (( )).
Thanks,
Alan
Hi Alan,
As a student teacher in a class of about 200 the professor asked this question: What is 2+3*4 and 80% got it wrong!!! I was a math major knowing you must multiply before you add as that is the rules for math order of operations. We don't do math, left to right!!! We do it like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_operations. In some math operations you can do them forwards and backwards, ie 3+4 = 4+3 or the communitive property of addition. NOTE 3-4 <> 4-3 so it doesn't work for subtraction. In your problem you first brackets go 10-(3*10/7)+6 = ?? as you must do all multiplication and division before addition or subtraction. When you get to the 3*10/7 you can change this into an all multiplication problem by changing the "/7" into a multiply by (1/7). Multiplication is communitive so 3*10*(1/7) doesn't matter the order you do them in.
I hope this helps - BTW I'm sure it isn't 16. I just asked Alexa what is "alexa what is 10 minus 3 times 10 divided by 7 plus 16" and she replied "approximately 11.7143"
One test is worth a thousand opinions.
