How To Trace Precedents For The Cells On The Other Sheets?

When you click a cell of which the precedent cell is on another sheet a icon appears which presents the precedent cell is on another sheet.

However It does not tell you the reference of this cell. (Neither Sheet Name nor Cell Reference)

How can I know the reference of these cells whilst tracing?

    zanshin,

The formula in the cell you click will tell you which sheet, row and column the "precedent" is on
E.g. If N5 on sheet 1 multiplies M5 by C3 on sheet 3, the formula in N5 will say "=M5*Sheet3!C3)"

If you double click the arrow the GoTo dialog appears with cell references

I just don't understand why they would have you double click on the line instead of double clicking on the spreadsheet icon. I'm aware of this feature but others aren't and it just doesn't make any sense to do it that way.

To find how a cell is used by all other sheets in the same workbook, just do a find/replace (ctrl-F), enter the cell (say 'sheet1'!A1) and make sure "within" is set to workbook. Then click on "find all" and you will see a list of all other sheets that is using the cell 'sheet1'!A1.
