Upgrading to a new version of Office what to make sure I don't lose data or formulas

I currently at using Excel 2010 included in my Office 2010, I just purchased Office 2019

I want to make sure that the worksheets that I created in Excel 2010 carry over to Excel 2019 without losing any data or formulas that I use in the worksheets. I would appreciate any help on how to do this.
    Thanks in advance.

Installing a new version of Excel has absolutely no effect on existing workbook files.

You won't lose anything. There is a small chance that something might stop workning (most likely some aspect of VBA coding, if you have any), but anything that does will be fixable.

Formulae should all work, unless there is anything inherently much older than your current version in there, but again, evertyhing will be fixable.

However, you have given no clue as to the nature of your formulae, their complexity or anything else that would give us an idea of what might need looking at.

The plus side is that lots of things will become much easier.

Please update your forym profile to Office 2019.

Thank you for the reply, I will upgrade my profile to reflect version 2019 once it's installed.

So what everybody is basically saying is that once I uninstall office 2010 any Excel files will be

updated to 2019 once I install office 2019. I'm assuming they become unassociated with any program once

I uninstall 2010? Then when 2019 is installed they are automatically associated with Excel 2019?

You do not need to uninstall Excel 2010. Just install Excel 2019 and it will take care of the upgrade automatically.

Do as Jeff says - better NOT to uninstall anything.

I'm dealing with versions of Office not Excel stand a lone version. I was told by Microsoft to uninstall Office 2010 before installing Office 2019. So now I am really confused

How did Microsoft tell you this? It is part of the install instructions? Or did someone say this on a community message board?

Microsoft office tech support told me. But after I uninstalled Office 2010 ran the cleanup tool from microsoft and installed Office 2021
everything is fine, all my worksheets are fine as far as I know so the issue it solved.
