    Conditional Formatting: Highlight when referenced

    Hello,

I have somewhat of a unique conditional formatting request and I'm not even sure that this can be done but thought I'd ask anyways. I am looking for a way to highlight cells that are referenced in a formula somewhere else.

For example, Sheet1 has 10 formulas in which the data is coming from Sheet2. In order to make sure that all the numbers from Sheet2 are being placed somewhere in Sheet1, I would want them to turn green if Excel detects that that exact cell reference was used to make a calculation.

Please let me know if you know a way or want me to explain in more detail!

    Thank you!!

What you are describing is pretty clear, but it would be very helpful if you could provide a sample file with this kind of setup. Please see yellow banner at the top of the page.

At first glance I am thinking this is going to require VBA, and possibly a volatile function, so could be a performance pig depending on how many formulas you have.

We don't need or expect to see THE file, but yes, you CAN share a sample file. This may require a bit of effort on your part, but if you are expecting help from us and members of two other forums, then it's the least you can do.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Also what does the "+" in "2013+" mean? The solution is going be dependent on which version of Excel you use. Does this mean 2013 and all later versions?
