Auto format next line of table with column locked

    Good afternoon,

I am working on a sheet that has columns A-H as a table that has some nice conditional formatting and formulas involved. When you reach column H, you simply press tab and it moves to the next row and continues the format/formulas. However, I want to lock column "G" so that no one can change it and mess its formula up or receive an error message.

When I unlock all cells in the workbook, and click on column G and lock them, then put a password protect on the workbook, people can edit all of the columns except G which is exactly what I want. The issue now is that when they reach column "H" and press tab it no longer moves down to the next row and formats correctly. It simply says this is a protected workbook and the table features are not available.

Is there a way to solve this?

    Thanks,
    J

    Hi,
Can you attach an example file without sensitive information but only with the formulas and format applied?

    Absolutely. Attached.

Currently, if you put your cursor on H32 and click tab, it moves to the next row and formats the row appropriately. When I lock column "G" however and then try to tab from H32 to move down to a new row and have it autoformat, it says that its a protected workbook and the table feature is not available. It still allows the users to input text and use the drop downs in the other columns, and it blocks column G like I want, but doesn't carry the formatting down like it did previously.

I see now what you are trying to do but this is not possible in Excel without a VBA code.
Maybe someone can help you with that!
