How to Lookup Candidate Status Based on Two Criteria

    Hi

i need some help, i have a task at work that i am required to pull over the candidate status over to a new sheet, i was originally using a vlookup function on the email address and pulling over the status. i now have a issue where the candadate can now apply for more than one job reference

so when i use vlook up it only pulls over the 1st status for that candadate - how do i get is so it checks for the job ref and email and then pull over the status

Re: looking for help with vlook up

    Administrative Note:

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. No help to be offered until this moderation request has been fulfilled.)

Re: what function/formula do i need to help get result

No - sorry. It doesn't tell us what you are trying to do. It is still generic. Use this: "How to Lookup Candidate Status Based on Two Criteria".

No help to be offered until this change has been made.

Are you still using Excel 2010?

Re: How to Lookup Candidate Status Based on Two Criteria

    That's better - thanks.

Are you still using Excel 2010? If so:

    =INDEX($H$2:$H$5,MATCH(1,($A$2:$A$5=C9)*($D$2:$D$5=D9),0))

**Array formulas are not entered in the same way as 'standard' formulas. Instead of pressing just ENTER, you first hold down CTRL and SHIFT, and only then press ENTER. If you've done it correctly, you'll notice Excel puts curly brackets {} around the formula (though do not attempt to manually insert these yourself).
