    Conditional formatting for a calendar

Hello. I have attached a sample calendar that I will be using for my team's time off for 2023. I have two questions about conditional formatting, which I think might have similar answers:

    1. Let's say Employee 1 has Mondays off. Is there a way to say if A7=Employee 1 AND B5:AF5=Mon, highlight Cell B7:AF7 (corresponding to the Monday only). So it would add formatting to cells C7, J7, Q7, X7 and AE7 only. The formula I tried highlighted all the cells in row 7.

    2. The second tab is going to be all the time off in list form. Is there a way to add a rule that looks at the name, date and type and adds a fill to the date on the calendar. For example: Employee 8 is using vacation (V) on 1/18/2023, so it would highlight cell S14 a specific color. Employee 3 is taking personal holiday (PH) on 1/24/2023, so it would highlight cell Y9 a different color. I don't need to include the time column in any of this..

If these are in conflict with each other, and can't be done at the same time, I'd prefer to be able to do the second item on the list (add the formatting for the date/type). Any help is appreciated, thanks! Sample Calendar.xlsx

Edit: My company recently upgraded to Office 365 and I forgot to edit my profile. I've updated it now. Thanks again.

Re: Conditional formatting for a calendar

    Hi.

I have added a weekday column to your Dates tab and use lookup formulas in the conditional formatting, like this one for days off (red color):
    Formula: copy to clipboard

The same principle is used for the Types column, such as this formula for type "V":
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Please check file attached.

    Good luck!
