Files from Excel 365 to Excel 2002

    Hi,

Have Excel 365 on my laptop with Microsoft 10 S operationsystem, there is no cd rom drive on it and i would like to run my Office 2002 on it, it comes on cd and i have activationcode.

So i downloaded an ISO files with Office 2002 and copied the files, that i have made in Office 365, to an USB to test it on another computer with Office 2002, now... there is some files that cant be opened in Office 2002 that is written in Office 365, is it possible to convert those files to run on 2002?

    Thank you

Just a guess, open them on the 365 system and save them as .XLS.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

Also, you should note that there have been many new functions added to Excel since the 2002 version, so if the file which runs on 365 contains any of these new functions then it will not work on the older version. Bear in mind, as well, that versions of Excel before 2007 had a much more limited number of rows and columns (32,000 x 256) compared with the later versions (1 million+ rows by 16,000 columns), so that might also cause you problems when trying to Save As an .xls file instead of .xlsx

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

Further to what has already been said, conditional formatting changed a lot in 2007, as did VBA. So you may need to take that into consideration as well.

Also (since we are piling on). Microsoft is no longer supporting security updates for Excel 2002.

As Pete mentioned, there are a lot of changes made since 2002. I believe that almost everything is backwards compatible meaning that opening a 2002 file in 365 should offer few if any problems. If you save a 365 file as XLS, you will most likely lose a lot. If all you need is the data, you can also consider saving it as a CSV file - one sheet at a time.
