Sorting a table in protected worksheet

Is it possible to sort a table that is in a protected worksheet? I would like the users to be able to sort by column B (Customer) in the table.

The table has one column (A) that needs to remain locked or at least uneditable. All other columns are editable by the user and are unlocked. I have tried allowing sorting with the protection but can't get the sort function to work. We don't want the users to be able to unprotect the sheet because they could (and have in the past) made changes to table headers, etc. that mess up other things. I can also create a "sort" macro for them that will do this for them but thought I'd ask here first in case there is a simpler solution.
