Why is text repeating in Column 3 cells?

Internet searches have got me through a long time of excel/VBA questions as I try to self-teach myself but this one is different. Seems like some type of glitch perhaps?

I have a worksheet I'm trying to build. Has a table with rows of jobs and columns of different types of data for those jobs. I added freeze panes so that you could still see the top row (table headers) when scrolling down the list of jobs and still see the first three columns (job names and numbers) when scrolling across to the end of the data columns. Some time adding freeze panes, whenever I enter data in any cell in column 3 (C, "Project Name") the text repeats itself to proverbial infinity. So if I type the word big in a cell in column 3 and then select a different cell, the text in the column 3 cell becomes "bigbigbigbigbig...."(to "infinity") yet the formula bar reads just "big". Why is that? How can I stop that from happening?

Other relevant info: Originally I had a bunch of VBA in the worksheet. I figured there has to be some loop somehow having to do with the code. I tried everything I could find on the internet and think of VBA-wise to rectify the situation. It didn't help that the text property and value property of the active cell did not repeat as was the case on the screen. Then I copied the entire worksheet into a new workbook (attached) that has absolutely no code and am still experiencing the same behavior from it. That tells me that the behavior should have nothing to do with the code, correct?

Also, most of the data I added in the cells when I was fooling around is nonsensical random typing to quickly insert something into the cell (in case your wondering).

Look at your cell format - you have set the text alignment property to 'fill' - the wider you make the column the cell will keep filling with original entry - reset it to General.
What is the yellow box supposed to do ?????
    Torachan,

Mission statement; Promote the use of Tables, Outlaw the use of 'merged cells' and 'RowSource'.

Re: Why is text repeating in Column 3 cells?

If you look at the horizontal alignment of your cell format in this column, it is set to 'Fill'.

This causes it to fill the data to the width of the cell.

Re: Why is text repeating in Column 3 cells?

Thank you all. I didn't think about formatting as maybe being the problem. I think when I changed the horizontal text alignment formatting for column 3 I was testing with a project name that was longer than the width of the cell so I didn't realize at that time that repetition would occur if the project name was shorter than the width of the cell. The reason I changed the format was to prevent the text from appearing to spill into the next cell to the right. I'm going to change the formatting back to general. The appearance of text spilling into the cell to the right of it if that cell is empty is less of an issue than the issue of text repeating itself within the cell if it is a short project name.

The yellow box is will follow the cell that is selected and display the same text that is in the selected cell so that it appears to highlight the cell. Just a little more sort of visually obvious to the user which cell they have selected than the green outline that usually shows which cell(s) the user has selected.
