Update Links - Not Required But Warning Persists

    a.png

Tried below already, I still get an unsettling warning on the links no matter what I try. Many results on Google but cannot see what I'm doing wrong.

    Attached
    • Main.xlsx - where the warning is received (links are received)
    • Qts.xlsx - where the links are and they feed to the Main.xlsxMain.xlsxQts.xlsx

    • After updating the links, saving re-opening, saving shut-down & reopening the file I still get the warning. Despite updating the links & showing there are no issues with the links in the link manager.
    • Copying worksheets to new workbooks, renaming & saving in different folders.
    • Deleted all named ranges which were dependant on externally linked workbooks. Deleted all named ranges for the purpose of the linked workbooks so it is definitely not named ranges.

Re: Update Links - Not Required But Warning Persists

Thanks, I'm not wanting to turn off the warning as it could warn me when the warning could be righteous.

I want to fix the warning so it only displays when there is in fact a problem.

EDIT - I'm pretty sure it is to do with version history. I definitely do not have any phantom links or data validiation links, or conditional formatting links... I saved this workbook from Sharepoint. I notice when opening the file it opens initially with the link warning, showing an old font which I changed. I think the link dialogue is an old dialogue which has not been updated by Microsoft correctly to allow for Sharepoint's version history within files...

Very troublesome to have this warning each time as I will be depending upon a lot of links in this workbook.

EDIT 2 - Solved - hidden names was the problem. There is a definite bug with Excel recognizing & initially loading a previous version of the file as the font appears as old font initially. Strangely copying the worksheet to a new workbook did not remove this, but on second go did remove it. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
