Index Match function to return Blanks

I have an index function that I want to return blanks instead of zeros. There is a Match function in Column T which gives Row number for Index to work. Also.....the values Index return are always text:

    =@IF(ISERROR(@INDEX($A$2:$A$30, $T2,1)),"",INDEX($A$2:$A$30,$T2,1))

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook. Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Try:

    =IFERROR(INDEX($A$2:$A$30, $T2,1))&"","")

If not, please upload a SMALLL sample Excel file. 10-20 rows maximum.

Re: Index Match function to return Blanks

First of all, you can simplify your formula by using IFERROR, like this:

    =IFERROR(INDEX($A$2:$A$30, $T2),"")

That will return a blank if the INDEX function (or whatever is in T2) returns an error. However, if the value retuned from the INDEX function is legitimately a zero, then that won't be flagged up as an error, as it is a valid result. You can do this to ensure that zero values are displayed as blanks:

    =IFERROR(1/(1/INDEX($A$2:$A$30, $T2)),"")

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

So... is this what you want?

    =IFERROR(INDEX($A$2:$A$30,$T2)&"","")

If not what IS your expected answer?
