If any accountant, or financial analyst around, Do I've to remove the negative sign
May I ask a financial question using Excel here on this website?

When I do financial analysis, do I have to remove the negative sign from the numerator or denominator? or vice versa?
Or should all signs stay the same as in the financial statements?

If tax expense is shown as a negative figure, and I want to calculate effective tax rate (tax expense/PBT), then I will show the effective tax rate as positive.
It is a COGS item.
It is displayed with a negative sign in Income Statement.
I am using the COGS in some ratios, so when I use it, shall I add the COGS as + or as -?
I mean like this.
Show in ratios as positive.
If it is in the WorkingCapital ?
In case the working capital amount is already displayed in negative.
should I put it as negative as well?
Or do the same as above and show it as positive?
